6 steps to softer hands this winter

softer hands blog

We invest time and money in making sure our facial skin is smooth, soft and even but how about our hands? Hands work hard for us so we should work harder for them. The same skincare principles apply to them, plus a little extra. Here are 6 steps to softer hands this winter:

Step 1: Use a gentle cleanser

At home, ensure you have a gentle cleanser so it doesn’t leave your hands feeling dry and tight every time you use it. You won’t have much control over the soap you use elsewhere but at home you will.

Step 2: Exfoliate

Exfoliate once a week to remove the rough, dead skin and prepare your hands for the next steps. Massage the exfoliator into your hands and cuticles in a circular motion leaving your skin brighter and smoother.

Step 3: Apply serum

Yes, there is serum for hands! You can use a serum throughout the day in the same way as a moisturiser. Serums are lighter than moisturisers so for a more intense effect, apply at night before hand cream.

Step 4: Moisturise

Most people just skip to this step. If you are pushed for time, then this is the step you always need. Apply moisturiser regularly throughout the day and especially last thing before you go to bed at night. For best results, seal it in with moisturising gloves and you’ll wake up with super soft skin.

Step 5: Use cuticle oil

At least twice a day, place a drop of cuticle oil onto each cuticle and massage into the nail and surrounding skin to nourish nails and encourage growth. Make this step part of your night-time routine for maximum benefit.

Step 6: Protect your hands from the winter weather

Wear leather gloves to protect your hands from the damaging cold and wind every time you go outside. They will also help seal in all the moisture you have put in, prolonging the benefit.
